The Future of St John's Parish Hall

In November 2022 St John's Church announced that they no longer wished to run  the Parish Hall.  There was a virtually unanimous vote in favour of it being taken over by the community.

A project group was formed which led to the setting up of the Meads (Eastbourne) Community Centre  (MECC) Charitable Incorporated Organistion (CIO).  At its first public meeting on 10th February 2024, Chairman Robert Smart announced that an application had been made to the Community Ownership Fund (COF) for funding to carry out not only the backlog of repairs but also the work needed to renovate and update the hall to today's standards.

At the end of March MECC learnt that their application for funding has been approved.  £450,000 has been granted providing matched funding of £100,000 can be raised by the community.  Please see MECC website for more information and how to make a donation and or pledge.  There will also be a series of fundraising events.

Thank you to everyone who has already donated and or pledged money to this very valuable community hall.  We look forward to seeing you at a fundraising event soon!
